Flying the flag for our region in France

Legendary Lebanese fashion designer Zuhair Murad is taking part in a fashion exhibition in France.

Held at the Museum of Fashion and Lace in Calais, a number of pieces from Murad’s collection have been hand-picked to feature in the“Haute Dentelle” exhibit.  The series – which is running until January 2019 – looks at the role lace plays in haute couture.

A selection of contemporary, lace designs from couture and ready-to-wear collections from 14 international fashion houses showcase contemporary interpretations of the fabric, including Chanel, Dior and Louise Vuitton.

 

A string of high-profile actresses and models have been spotted wearing the couturier’s designs in recent years.

Gigi Hadid sported an embellished fishtail frock from the designer’s Autumn/Winter ’16 collection back in November 2017.

Meanwhile, Victoria’s Secret star Chanel Iman chose Murad when she tied the knot to American football player Sterling Shepard in March.

Founded in 1977, the Museum of Fashion and Lace celebrates lace as a traditional craft and art form. Previous exhibitions have included Barbie fashion and a retrospective look at Hubert de Givenchy’s career.
