Catering to modern Egyptian magpies and beyond, Cairo-based jewellery brand ZAGH grabbed our attention for it’s contemporary aesthetic and creative use of shapes.

Founder Riham Zaghloul decided to launch her own label in 2015 when she couldn’t find any pieces that reflect her desire for something truly unique. Armed with a degree in computer sciences and business and experience from working in software engineering, she went to create pieces that pay tribute to art and nature.
Although she had design studio in Italy and looks to Germany as a source for silver, ZAGH remains a proud Egyptian brand by using traditional techniques like hammering, stone setting and carving. Using it as a form of expression, Zaghloul spent 12 years designing 80 percent of her pieces for herself or as gifts before attending any international jewellery shows, and eventually launching the brand.

Creating pieces that have an international appeal isn’t easy, but keeping her designs minimal and modern that comfortably sit on the body has won her a solid fan base. Expect strong, geometric shapes, like the “Curves” collection, inspired by the birth of her first child and be swept away by the dreamy “State of the Mind” line which was influenced by her love for calligraphy.
Our top pick? It has to be the the “Orb Piu” ring, part of the “Orb” collection, that makes a statement yet feel timeless.
