The weekend is finally here and we’re going to make the most of it with full-moon yoga classes, Caribbean-inspired food, pampering sessions, and a splurge at the mall…

Here’s our top plans for what to do this Dubai weekend.

Thursday 15

Start the weekend off with a dose of culture

The Russian State Ballet

The Russian State Ballet are in town for three days, and the company’s world-renowned dancers will be performing two classic ballets at Dubai Opera. On Thursday at 8pm and Saturday at 4pm you can catch Coppélia, or Giselle will be performed on Friday at 3.30pm and 8pm. All shows will be accompanied with live music from the Orchestra of Siberia, and tickets are still available online at dubaiopera.com.

Ballet not your thing? Try some hip-hop instead

VIP Room Dubai

Need to blow off some steam? This club night ought to do it. Russian singer-songwriter and record producer Timur Yunusov – better known as Timati – is back at the VIP Room where you can bop along to some of his most well-known tracks including Groove On, Not All About The Money, Forever and Welcome To St Tropez.

Friday 16

Get your carnival on

the scene

So you missed the famous Notting Hill Carnival? No worries, because The Scene is putting on their own version of the Caribbean-inspired fiesta today. As part of the all-day knees up, there’ll be dancers, steel drummers, live DJs, and a seriously mouthwatering menu. We’re talking jerk corn on the cob, crispy sea bream, rice and peas, and pineapple upside down cake… are you salivating too?

The Scene, 4th floor, Pier 7, Dubai Marina Mall. 12pm to 2am, Friday only. Tel: (04) 422 2328. More info on Facebook

Luckily for us, Burberry have created an exclusive range of Swarovski-encrusted sandals just for Dubai’s Level Shoes. The Italian-crafted leather mules come in four colours, while there’s also a strappy stiletto available in gold. Prices start from Dhs3,590, and the limited-edition pop-up is only on until tomorrow.

Level Shoes, The Dubai Mall, Downtown Dubai, Sunday to Saturday 10am to 1am. Tel: 800 538 3573. levelshoes.com.

Saturday 17

Get autumn fresh with a spa sesh

The sports bar will be testing the general knowledge of its customers with a weekly trivia competition. where prizes range from pool access passes to brunch vouchers, and there’s plenty of drink deals on throughout the night. And even if quizzes aren’t your thing, it’s worth going just for the grub (and leaving your mates to do all the hard work).
