Trip to the Maldives, any one?

Call the doctor, because we’ve been struck down by a serious case of wanderlust.

One overwater resort has just been named the world’s most Instagrammable hotel… and its proximity to the UAE might result in some bad news for our credit cards.

Anantara Kihavah, an upscale resort in the Maldives, claimed the title thanks to its 80 luxury villas, which either straddle the azure Indian Ocean or are nestled against a private beach.

What wouldn’t we give to be here instead of the office right now? We’re struggling to think of anything.

The resort, which is situated in the Baa Atoll archipelago on the island of Kihavah Huravalhi, was crowned a social media star by Luxury Travel Advisor, winning 45,385 of 121,000 votes cast in the publication’s inaugural contest.

Anantara Kihavah boasts four restaurants, including both underwater and sky-gazing options, as well as activities including snorkelling within a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and sunset cruises.

The good news for those of us in the UAE needing a holiday is that the Maldives are just a four-hour flight away, and you can reach Anantara Kihavah’s closest airport (Velana International) with Emirates.

It’s then a 30-minute seaplane right to the private island (which the hotel help organise).

Of course, a picture-perfect experience doesn’t tend to come cheap, with room rates starting from around Dhs3,400 a night (based on trips in May).
