The Weeknd, real name Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, presented his girlfriend Bella Hadid with a rose gold and diamond Audemars Piguet watch from the Royal Oak collection which she was quick to showcase on her Instagram account.

The luxurious timepiece features multiple brilliant-cut diamonds that break over the dial, bezel and bracelet in an asymmetrical wave. Writing on her Instagram Stories, Hadid shared her thoughts on this extravagant gift: “The most insane/beautiful thing u ever gave me, although it still comes second to ur luvvv'”.
Royal Oak was first crafted by Swiss watch giant Audemars Piguet in 1972 and since then grew to be an icon among the watch enthusiasts and had stars like Jay-Z invited by the brand to create their very own timepiece.

In 2016 they started collaborating with jewellery designer Carolina Bucci on reinventing the classic into a watch that was also a piece of jewellery. Unsurprisingly the newest look sold out. Last year, Bucci worked on a new Royal Oak in a 37mm limited-edition, crafted in yellow gold. The new piece had a frosted gold finish and a silver-toned mirrored face, replacing the Royal Oak’s trademark tapisserie dial.
