The Grammy-winner will perform on the Friday night.

He won’t be here until November, but it’s now confirmed — Canadian hitmaker The Weeknd will headline one of the Abu Dhabi after-race concerts.

The Yas Marina performance will be The Weeknd’s (real name Abel Tesfaye) second in the UAE. He performed in Dubai back in 2014.

While the official announcement came on Sunday morning, sharp-eyed Instagram users already had a pretty good idea that Tesfaye would be heading over.

Yas Marina’s official account shared an image of a starry sky on Saturday, which included the word Starboy.

That’s a hit single of Tesfaye’s, and one that F1 concert-goers can look forward to come November.

Previous Abu Dhabi Grand Prix acts have included Rihanna, Mumford & Sons, Calvin Harris and J. Cole. Pulitzer-prize winner Kendrick Lamar was booked for the 2017 series, but had to pull out shortly beforehand.

Tesfaye has been releasing music as The Weeknd since 2010, and has worked with artists like Beyoncé, Kanye West, Drake, and Rihanna. His early mixtape House of Balloons was an underground hit, and he’s since received more commercial success with tracks like Can’t Feel My FaceEarned It, and The Hills.

Can’t Feel My Face was one of the biggest songs of 2016. Here’s a little reminder…

Tesfaye has just released a new mixtape, called My Dear Melancholy. As that title suggests, he’s known for a forlorn, down-tempo vibe that somehow remains party-friendly.

He’s won three Grammys, eight Billboard Music Awards, and two American Music Awards.

We can’t wait to see him trackside.
