THE LOWDOWN

Located in downtown Manhattan in the historic neighbourhood of Nolita, this 55-room boutique hotel is the place to stay. A newcomer to the area, The Nolitan adds to the dynamics of its surroundings, earning street cred as an ‘in’ hotel without the pretentious ‘tude.

What’s more, you’re only a short walk away from the buzzy districts of Soho, East Village and Chinatown.
The staff are welcoming, super friendly and always ready to assist with any queries. For anyone travelling with a canine companion, the hotel offers it’s We (heart) Tails programme which greets your pooch with a welcome basket of treats and toys. Check-out time is also a generous 1pm, making The Nolitan truly feel like a home from home.
Desperate to boast about your trip on Facebook? No problem. The hotel has complimentary Wi-Fi, and even loans laptops for those who decided to pack their Louboutins instead.

SURROUNDINGS

There’s no doubt that you’ll have a few bucks burning a hole in your pocket, and conveniently, the Tory Burch and Charlotte Ronson boutiques are right on your doorstep. Not too far away you’ll find the Alexander Wang flagship store, and for you diehards, Topshop, just around the corner on Broadway.

For those wanting to explore Nolita and the surrounding neighbourhoods, you can borrow bikes and skateboards from the hotel reception. The staff are brimming with local knowledge, so can assist with routes and tips for seeing the best sights. For a spot of lunch – be sure to head a little further East to the renowned Katz Deli.
After a day on your feet you can chill at some of the hippest hangouts in New York, all just a stones throw away. An EW favourite has to be Cake Shop. This cool joint on Ludlow Street is a live music venue, record store and serves some extremely tasty confectionary, a perfect combination.

STYLISH EATS

Breakfast is offered on a complimentary basis in the lobby every morning; much needed fuel for a morning of adventures. Anyone needing a time-out from the hustle and bustle should make use of the order-in room service, and with over 40 local eateries to choose from, you’re spoilt for choice. The hotel’s in-house delivery guy will even collect your order and drop it right to your door.

A newly launched Sips and Savouries happy hour (Monday – Saturday) is great for mingling with other guests and exchanging tales of your travels. The Nolitan is also set to open its very own restaurant this autumn, and we’re sure it will cook up a real feast.

DESIGN

Behind the design are duo Grzywinski + Pons, who gave the hotel its quirky decor.

The rooms ooze that New York loft vibe, complete with white walls, wooden furniture, industrial fittings and accents of red running throughout. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow natural light to flood in and open the space. The colossal rain shower featured in the bathrooms is hugely appreciated – especially after a long-haul flight.
Be sure to take the elevator to the rooftop sundeck, with stunning uninterrupted views of the Empire State Building, and the Williamsburg Bridge to the East. Don’t forget your camera!

LEISURE

If you’ve eaten one bagel too many during your trip, make use of the hotel’s free daily pass to 24hr Fitness, which can be found a couple of minutes away on Crosby Street. Oh, and don’t forget your Nolitan yoga mat.
