Located in the heart of the ever-bustling JBR, Frankie’s is the love child of famed jockey Frankie Detori and Michelin star chef Marco Pierre White. Their sumptuous Italian fare is renowned in the region and EW can report that it did not disappoint

DÉCOR

The brightly lit entrance is a contrast to the elegant interior that awaits. The plush seats and pristine table settings are complemented by dim lighting and flickering candles, offering the desired relaxed ambiance.

A trip to the ladies room is very much in order, as the corridor is lined with candid snaps of Frankie and Marco as they frolic with their famous friends.

FOOD

Unable to decide between the selection of mouth-watering starters, we jumped at the chance when offered a taster platter (made on request). We dined on Beef Carpaccio, Caprese salad and Eggplant Ricotta Rolls, the hands down winner was in fact the duo of Bruschetta served with truffle oil.

With an array of classic Italian pizzas, pastas and everything that falls in between; the front-runner was the Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli served on a mixed mushroom cheese fondue, beautifully presented and in the end completely demolished. For meat lovers the Angus Fillet is a must-try, we found it was cooked to perfection and beautifully tender.

With generous portion sizes the real challenge is leaving room for dessert. All the Italian classics are there but with unique twists. We indulged in the trio of Crème Brulèes, one of which was flavoured with black olives – a surprisingly delicious combination.

AMBIENCE

Spilt into two different rooms, the main dining area is perfect for families before 9:00pm. Post watershed it transforms into an intimate venue ideal for date night. The bar and piano are in the adjacent room, where if you don’t mind a bit of smoke, you can enjoy a super chic atmosphere reminiscent of New York.

The crowd is an even mix of couples and groups of friends, with a host of regulars confirming Frankie’s obvious appeal for repeat visits.

Regardless of where you sit the service is flawless with knowledgeable staff and charming managers ensuring you’re well looked after.

Throughout the week, live entertainment comes in the form of a highly commendable pianist who delights guests with songs from the likes of Sting to Sinatra.

WHY BOTHER?

For some of the best Italian delights in town, Frankie’s is set in a relaxed yet chic environment where you can impress without being pretentious.
