This week’s Radar is Ramadan themed! So we’ve taken it upon ourselves to test out the top iftars in town.

Every year, Al Iwan in the Burj Al Arab goes all out with a lavish affair, perfect for special occasions.

The iftar celebrations usually kick off at around 7pm, so arrive on time to make the most of this indulgent spread.

Before hitting the buffet, start with a selection of Arabic juices and various hot and cold mezze.

Next up, enjoy delicacies from the Middle East and North Africa, including oven-roasted Gulf fish and baby lamb ouzi.

The chicken shawarma is a must-try and you’ll be going back for seconds – that is, if the selection of too-yummy-too-resist miniature desserts haven’t already distracted you!

Not only does the haute cuisine impress, but the decadent interior (think, gold, gold and more gold) will make for a memorable experience.

Want to avoid the crowds and queues? Look no further than Lime and Tonic’s ‘Iftar Treasure Chest’.

L&T have teamed up with Mizaan restaurant at the H Hotel to offer homebodies a gourmet iftar experience to be enjoyed in the comfort of your pad.

Each Treasure Chest contains a generous assortment of yummy treats. Begin your meal with the fresh juice and one of the side dishes – we went for the grilled veggies and spiced Arabic bread.

You must give the traditional Emirati leg of lamb a go. It’s cooked with spices, and stuffed with basmati long-grain rice, nuts and herbs – we’re all for local produce.

The hungry can also try the Turkish mixed grilled platter. It comes with all the favourites, including lamb kofta and shish tawook.
