EW was invited to an exclusive, behind-the-scenes peek at Temperley London’s magical photoshoot, held at the Banyan Tree Al Wadi resort in Dubai

Welcome to Dubai! Why did you choose to shoot here?
The light in the early morning and evening is so ethereal, it really brings the fabrics to life. We were getting up at 4am to catch the stunning light on the sand dunes before it was too bright at 8.30am!
Where are you staying?
At the Banyan Tree Al Wadi resort in an amazing tented villa.
What did you enjoy most about the shoot?
For me, fashion and design are all about fantasy, and celebrating beautiful clothing. Seeing them come together in that ultimate image is very rewarding.
Have you always styled your photoshoots?
It’s something I enjoy doing more and more. I design with the Temperley woman in mind, so styling the clothes on the model helps me understand how my customer would wear the collection.
Your sister is the photographer. Do you like to keep it in the family?
Matilda shoots all the campaigns with me, she understands my eye and what I’m trying to get from the picture. It’s a great creative partnership! My next project is to work on my own photography, watch this space…
What’s the inspiration behind your stunning A/W13 collection?
Hitchcock heroines of the 1950s. Stricter in shillouette, but still very feminine and timeless. I’ve reworked my most iconic styles and shapes that I know my women love.
Temperley London has been going for over 10 years, what drives you?
That the best is yet to come.
What do you think about the style in the Middle East?
I love the use of colour, the flow of garments and how the women carry extraordinary jewellery.
The Arabic customer is very fashion savvy and well informed. I love designing for their sensibility; it suits my style.
