Expert artisans meticulously cut shearling strips into shape and hand-weave them into the drilled leather panels. FENDI artisans are known for their ability to transform materials like shearling and fur into lightweight intricacies, treating them as if they were leather or fabric. In this collection, both quadrants of the Peekaboo bag are fully interlaced, serving not only an aesthetic purpose but also a functional one as they are used as a lace-up piping on the sides to assemble the bag.
Labour of Love
Creating a Peekaboo interlace is a labour-intensive process that demands precision and patience. Artisans carefully select the perfect spot on the shearling to cut out the quadrant, ensuring every flaw is avoided. The shearling is then meticulously drilled with holes, which will be used to connect the strips that tie the various parts of the bag together and decorate the panels. Each bag is hand-interlaced, starting from the quadrants. The bag remains unlined, showcasing the exquisite interlaced workmanship even on the inside, revealing the double-sided beauty that is inherent to the Peekaboo bag.
