JANUARY: New Year New You
The holiday season can leave you exhausted and New Year full of great intentions. Former Disney pop princess Demi Lovato starts her year with a month-long detox. “It is so important to me to take time off,” says the 22-year-old Really Don’t Care singer. “When I work so much, I don’t get a lot of sleep, and I think I want to get really fit and in shape and just get really healthy. I want to be rested mentally and spiritually. I think it’s a month to recharge.”
FEBRUARY: Do A Class A Day
February means our thoughts turn to romance, and with the cinematic release of Fifty Shades Of Grey, things should be hotting up in the bedroom department. Rita Ora (pictured above), who plays Mia Grey, Christian Grey’s sister, in the movie, says that starting her day with an exercise class is what keeps her looking and feeling good. “If I do a class in the morning, I’m happy the whole day,” says the 23-year-old who is also set to be a coach on The Voice in 2015. “I try to do one thing a day that makes me proud of myself.”
MARCH: Get Hair Like An Heir
Spring 2015 heralds the arrival of a new royal baby, as Kate Middleton and Prince William prepare to expand their family. Before she gave birth to Prince George in July 2013, the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted making a pre-baby stop off at the Rossano Ferretti Hair Spa in Mayfair, in order to look polished for her big moment. Hair stylist to the Middletons, Rossano Ferretti – whose £600 (Dhs3,600) Method haircut is a favourite of Kate’s revealed that he uses, Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Oil, on 32-year-old Kate’s locks to keep them soft, healthy and bouncy.
APRIL: Adopt Some Avengers Attitude
Avengers star Scarlett Johansson, who plays Black Widow in the movie franchise, knows how to get in shape and kick some butt at the same time. The 29-year-old actress gave birth to daughter Rose Dorothy in September 2014, but had to shape up for The Avengers sequel Age Of Ultron by working with personal trainer Bobby Strom and stunt double Heidi Moneymaker. Her top tip for looking superhero sexy? “Sticking to a kale-rich diet and being nice and patient when I’m being dressed for the day in wardrobe.”
MAY: May Day May Hem
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West will celebrate their first wedding anniversary this month, but the 34-year-old reality star has another beloved in her life – her tailor! “Anything you wear should be proportioned to your body, and a good tailor will make sure everything fits perfectly,” says the mum to daughter North West. “I either have my tailor at every fitting or I have my stylist pin my wardrobe and take it to the tailor before I wear anything. Shortening a hem line on a dress can make a huge difference!”
JUNE: Accept Who You Are
Angelina Jolie turns 40 in June, but despite being tagged as the most beautiful woman in the world, the Maleficant star hasn’t always felt pretty. “I always felt not traditionally beautiful – I have big features,” she reveals. The actress, who tied the knot with Brad Pitt in 2014 and who is mother of six, likes to keep it in the family when it comes to her attractiveness saying: “As I have gotten older I look like my mum, and I loved my mom.” She continues, “You start to put your lineage in line, the different things that you are. I see the American in me and the German from my father, you come to love the combination of whatever it is you are.”
JULY: Summer Style Shake-up
Just over half-way through the year and it’s time to shake up your beauty routine. Shake It Off singer Taylor Swift relies on her go-to lip colour if she is feeling lazy. “I love red lipstick. If I’m too lazy to do anything else makeup wise, red lipstick is my one step,” reveals the 24-year-old Grammy award winner. “Put on a layer, blot with a tissue, put on another layer, blot again. Finally, place tissue over lips, and powder,” she says.
AUGUST: Be Beach Booty-full
The holidays mean it’s time to shape up and show off on the beach and no-one rocks a bikini quite like Rihanna. The two-piece queen keeps her stunning figure by sticking to a strict diet of five small meals a day and getting in workouts with her trainer Ary Nunez, when she isn’t busy with her schedule. Ary says: “We train when she’s ready. Even if we’re on the road and it’s 2am in the morning. I’m on call 24/7 with her.” But if you think Rihanna is totally body confident, then think again. Despite her stunning Instagram snaps, the 26-year-old singer says: “I do pick on my body. It’s a thing that women do. We walk in front of the mirror and we look at our butt. Is it getting bigger today? Ew. It’s still flat!”
SEPTEMBER: Do A Wardrobe Check
Fashion Month signals the chance to restock your wardrobe with key pieces. Designer Victoria Beckham launches her spring/summer 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week and says of her personal style: “Because I’m coming to work every day, I tend to wear things that are a little looser; if I want to look dressy, I put on my sunglasses. I used to wear clothes which would make me stand out and now I don’t so much because I don’t feel I have anything to prove.” With a busy fashion launch and being a married mum-to-four, she reveals her key to surviving Fashion Week. “Everyone is tired but full of energy as you are running on adrenaline,” says the 40-year-old Brit. “I always say drink as much water as you possibly can. Keeping hydrated is key.”
OCTOBER: Don’t Be Scared To Get Older
This month sees MTV’s reboot of the Scream franchise and it’s time to to get scared. Model Heidi Klum is famous for her legendary Halloween costumes, but isn’t afraid of getting older. The mum-of-four says she has had to step up her fitness routine since hitting 40. “The metabolism definitely changes when you turn 40,” she says. “I always thought, that’s not going to happen to me, but it is happening to me. If I indulge more, I have to exercise more.” The 41-year-old, who loves to exercise outdoors with her children, has also dropped carbs from her diet. “I figured out what works for me. I’ll eat everything but the pasta and bread,” she adds.
NOVEMBER: Jennifer Is Ever In Your Favour
The Hunger Games gang release the final film of the franchise this month, and as we kiss goodbye to Katniss, Peeta, Gale et al, actress Jennifer Lawrence is still determined to change Hollywood’s perception of the perfect body. The 24-year-old Oscar winner – who confesses to never wearing makeup on her off days – says of her campaign, “We have the ability to control this image that young girls are going to be seeing. Girls see enough of this body that we’ll never be able to obtain.” She goes on to say, “It’s an amazing opportunity to rid ourselves of that in this industry. And also, I think, it’s better to look strong and healthy. I feel like somebody like Kate Moss running at you with a bow and arrow wouldn’t really be scary.”
DECEMBER: Get Your Glam On
Star Wars is the long awaited film release of 2015, so expect an out-of-this-world end to the year. For a truly space age red carpet moment, Interstellar actress Jessica Chastain has a few little tips to make your festive entrance one to remember. “Hair down, bright lips and a memorable dress: done!” reveals the 37-year-old award winning actress. “I love a little cat eye. The liner, YSL Eyeliner Effect Faux Cils Shocking in No 1, never gets gloppy.” She says, adding, “Nothing says femme fatale quite like smoky eyes and sleek waves.”
