Sponsored content: We’ve picked out the right kind of boat for every kind of get-together to save you the work…
When it comes to finding a cool new location for birthday parties, hen dos, family trips, or romantic evenings, Dubai’s restaurants and bars aren’t your only option.
We’re surrounded by blue seas and scenic waterways, so why not leave land behind for a few hours and have a truly private party away from the crowds?
Sure, hiring an entire luxury yacht might not sound like a wallet-friendly idea, however, a recently-arrived boat rental service makes sailing around Dubai surprisingly affordable.
We first told you about Charterclick last month, a service that lets customers book a private vessel for a few hours to several days with just a few clicks.
The site’s flooded with different types of yachts and boats, but finding exactly what’s best for your needs can seem overwhelming for amateur sailors.
So, we’ve sifted through the options to select the right kind of vessel for every kind of party.
Here’s our shortlist…
The big group
Want to have a sun and sea day with all your mates for less than the price of beach access at a Dubai hotel? The 70-foot A One 70 yacht fits the bill, with space for 30 people, plus a barbecue, onboard soft drinks and sunbeds. Ringing it at Dhs1,150 per hour, you’re looking at just Dhs153 per person (if you max out the capacity) for a four-hour booking.
The hen party
Want to grab your favourite gals, throw on some swimmers and catch some pre-wedding rays? The 50-foot Royal 50 is billed as a luxury vessel for special occasions, due to its chic interiors and mod-cons (think sound system, outdoor shower and large sunbed area). Hire it for the afternoon, take it on a whirl around the Palm for Dhs799 an hour (it can fit 22 people), and then return to port for a night of dancing.
The family visit
Got the parents or siblings in town? Instead of taking a public abra or ferry, take the 50-foot Vindobona for a cruise down Dubai Canal and out into the sea. The huge outside deck means there’s room for everyone to score great views of the city. This yacht costs Dhs750 an hour, and can hold 20 people (so you can really fit the whole family on).
The birthday adventure
If space to mingle is what you’re after, the 75-foot Elite 3 can hold an impressive 30 people on its large upper deck at one time (so hello floating dancefloor). It costs Dhs999 an hour and you can take 30 people on board, so bring a few hampers along and it works out cheaper than your typical dinner and drinks.
The intimate dinner
Fancy leaving all your stresses on shore, and sailing away for a dinner for two under the stars? The 52-foot Sunrise features a dining table on the aft deck that’s perfectly suited to a lazy meal as the sun sets, before throwing on some tunes and watching the world pass by. This one costs Dhs850 an hour and can hold 20 (though the other 18 people might spoil your romantic dinner…).
