Bling in every way from it’s decor to its drinks list – goat’s cheese foam on your cocktail, anyone? – Gold On 27 is a brand new, and decadent, bar opening at the Burj Al Arab on April 8, and from the looks of this sneak preview we’re certain it is only a matter of time before it becomes the new hotspot for the region’s movers and shakers.
As its name suggests, the whole venue is covered head-to-toe in gold – and not the kind you peel off to find chocolate underneath. However, it’s not just the venue’s decor that’s jaw-dropping. It’s location 27 floors high offers mesmerising views of the sprawling city skyline as well as the Arabian gulf.
With such a premium concept, the drinks are said to be crafted with only the finest brands, using unique ingredients handpicked by the bar’s award-winning team of mixologists. By unique ingredients, we’re talking ingredients that we’ve never before seen in cocktails. Think foie gras, blackened truffle oil, oud oil and goat’s cheese foam. With those ingredients, you may be surprised to hear that Gold On 27 doesn’t have a food menu.

Drinking at the new hot spot in what is one of Dubai’s most iconic building’s doesn’t come cheap – a beverage will set you back around Dhs100 to Dhs140, that’s just for one drink. If you think that’s not that expensive for you, perhaps, while in Burj Al Arab, you can pop into Skyview Bar, on the same floor, where they sell the Birth of an Icon cocktail for the small sum of Dhs15,000.

The dress code for Gold On 27 has been described as ‘stylish chic’, so we suggest ditching the jeans, even if they are 7 For All Mankind or MiH and don those Loubs and that fancy frock that you’ve been saving for a “special occasion”.
As far as music goes, the old Armani/Prive DJ, DJ Darko De Jan will be playing a mix of deep, soulful house and lounge, so expect everyone to hitting the god dance floor.

To give you a heads up, don’t expect to just trot into Gold On 27 with the gang; you have to first make a booking through an app – available on both Android and iOS, just search for Gold on 27 – which activates upon your arrival at the hotel, granting you access to the bar and the Burj in general.
