Plus, where the Crown Prince of Dubai is off to now.
It’s got to be a major coup for any new restaurant in the city to get a visit from a member of the royal family, so we’d imagine that the people behind Somewhere are pretty pleased with themselves right now.
The Dubai Mall restaurant has only been open a month or so, but HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has already popped in to check it out.
We have to say, it looks pretty cool. As lovers of the jet set lifestyle ourselves, the travel theme appeals. With an on-site library of travel books, and menus that look like passports, Somewhere has a clear USP.
The royal was accompanied by HH Sheikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, affectionately known as Uncle Saeed.
We like the look of that tile-and-gold interior, for a start. Menu-wise, Somewhere keeps things pretty under wraps. Their website just invites you to book — and it sounds like that’s essential.
A bit of digging around on Instagram reveals that the spot has a Middle Eastern focus, with a twist. Expect avocado hummus, chicken with jalapeño fatteh, and baklawa mistika ice cream sandwiches.
We’re very ready to check it out.
It makes sense that HH Sheikh Hamdan hit Somewhere up — he’s a well-known travel enthusiast. Right now, for example, he’s in New York.
While the Crown Prince hasn’t yet posted any Empire State shots to his actual feed, his Instagram story is full of New York moments.
They’re all in video form and will expire after 24 hours, so check them out now if you’re interested.
In the meantime, we can try for a table at Somewhere and emulate the royal lifestyle that way.
Hey, he hasn’t steered us wrong yet when it comes to restaurants.
