His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, has shared a message of thanks to the residents of the emirate following the close of the 2021 Dubai Fitness Challenge.

Sheikh Hamdan, affectionately known as Fazza, launched the initiative four years ago with a simple premise: being active for 30 minutes for 30 days.

And this year didn’t disappoint as a record 1.65 million people took part in the challenge with 14 fitness hubs across the city, 10,000 free exercise classes, three fitness villages at Kite Beach and two big events to mark the Dubai Fitness Challenge – the Dubai Ride and the Dubai Run.

Following the close of the challenge, Dubai’s Crown Prince shared a message of thanks to the “truly inspiring” individuals who took part.

“As another edition of Dubai Fitness Challenge draws to a close, I want to take this opportunity to reflect on the incredible achievements of the 1.65 million participants who took part and committed to their health and wellbeing,” he said. “Our ability to come together as a community in pursuit of a common goal is truly inspiring.”

He went on to laud the uniqueness of the challenge and stated how it puts Dubai on the map as “one of the greatest places to live”.

“I want to thank each and every individual, government agency, business and organisation who contributed to or took part in this initiative,” he said. “Dubai Fitness Challenge is truly unique. It is not replicated anywhere else, and shows the world that Dubai is one of the greatest places to live, work and visit.”

His Highness also said that while the Dubai Fitness Challenge may have come to a close for the year, he is encouraging everyone to “stay active and continue your fitness journey by embracing everything our great city has to offer”.
