His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, has shared his sincere thanks to a family who opted to donate their son’s organs after his death.

The family of Vijith Vijayan who tragically lost their son at us two years old opted to donate the toddler’s organs in order to save other lives.

Sheikh Hamdan called the act “giving at its finest”, despite the family’s heartbreaking loss. The organ donation went on to save three others.

“I received the most heartening news that embodies the act of giving at its finest for the family of ‘Vijith Vijayan’ whom despite the pain of loss of their 2-year-old son decided to donate their child’s organs to save the life of others,” he said on Twitter.

The Crown Prince of Dubai outlined three other lives were saved in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

“I am truly thankful to all the teams involved for their efforts,” he added. “May your soul rest in peace Vivaan and my sincere wishes for a healthy life ahead for the 3 children.”

An organ donation law was introduced in the UAE in 2016 and now doctors aim to encourage patients to pledge their organs in the event they can be given.
