The brand new store already has the royal seal of approval…

The UAE’s newest Apple Store opened amid much fanfare on Thursday, and one of its very first customers was none other than the Crown Prince of Dubai.

HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his entourage were given an exclusive tour of the two-level store in The Dubai Mall, much to the delight of fellow shoppers.

The social media-savvy prince happily took selfies with Apple staff, and was given a demonstration of the store’s stunning automated glass panels – one of the world’s largest kinetic art installations.

The panels, dubbed “solar wings”, help cool the store during the day, and open in the evening to let customers out onto the public terrace. The opening and closing of the panels is said to be inspired by the movement of a falcon spreading its wings.
