Football’s biggest names jetted to Spain for the event
Captain of Real Madrid and Spain’s national team, Sergio Ramos, tied the knot yesterday at his hometown of Seville. The footballer and his long-time partner, Spanish TV presenter Pilar Rubio, wed at the Seville Cathedral on Saturday.
The two, who have three sons together, held a spectacular wedding ceremony, with 400 guests, including some of football’s biggest names and booked iconic rock band AC/DC for the entertainment. The 33-year-old defender arrived on the arm of his mother Paqui Garcia, who wore a traditional Andalusian mantilla, or raised head scarf. The groom looked as handsome as ever in a dark three-piece suit in a discrete check pattern.

Meanwhile, the 41-year-old mother-of-three stunned in a gown by Lebanese designer, Zuhair Murad. The heavily embroidered glitzy dress and its detachable overskirt with a matching veil were inspired by the Art Deco movement from the Spring 2019 Collection. Pilar took a different route from what brides usually go for, as she had two braids hanging loose from her hair, and held a black bouquet. A very Gothic aesthetic!

After the ceremony, the reception was held at Sergio’s estate near Seville. There, the couples 400 wedding guests were allowed into the the party with a temporary unicorn tattoo and once they had surrendered their cell phones and any other devices with cameras or microphones. Photographs in Spanish media in the days leading up to the event showed a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, a stage and Indian teepees had been set up. Meanwhile, the banquet was being prepared by chef Dani Garcia, who has won three Michelin stars for his restaurant in the Andalusian resort Marbella.
The Spanish city was brought to a standstill for the wedding. There was security all over the city, as hundreds of fans took to the streets to watch their favourite player and his guests at the wedding. The guest list, which contained about 400 people, featured current and former team mates of the Real Madrid captain. This included Lucas Vázquez, Keylor Navas, Luka Modric, Marco Asensio, Nacho Fernandez and former teammates Mateo Kovacic and Álvaro Morata. Not only that, but Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, who play for rival club, Barcelona, were also in attendance.

Making a surprise appearance at the wedding, was former Galáctico, David Beckham and his wife fashion designer, Victoria Beckham. The former Real Madrid player looked handsome in a three-piece navy suit. Meanwhile, the former Spice Girl stunned in a midi-dress and pink heels from her name-sake brand. The style-icon shared a picture of her and her husband on Instagram, which she captioned in Spanish: “What a beautiful day in Seville with friends celebrating the wedding of @sergioramos and @pilarrubio_oficial kisses @davidbeckham”
