Thoughtful tanning.
More brands and platforms are shining a light on ethics and sustainability in the fashion industry, and this includes swimwear.
MATCHESFASHION.COM have launched a sustainable edit from new brands like Talia Collins and Swedish swimwear label Fisch, along with already existing brands including Pippa Holt, Mara Hoffman, Dos Gardenias and My Beachy Side, that focus on sustainable swim and beachwear.
Considering that the majority of our weekends are spent on the beach (well at least until the summer hits) finding a bathing suit that makes us look and feel good sounds like a winner.
We are particularly taken with Swedish designer Agnes Fischer who started researching sustainable fabrics in response to the destruction of the coral reefs in the Caribbean where she spent her childhood snorkelling. She settled on Econyl – a fully regenerative nylon fibre made from abandoned fishing nets – and so Fisch was born.
Having trained at Parsons School of Design in New York and worked at Saint Laurent, she set out to create versatile pieces that can be worn straight from the beach to the bar. Standout features include hand-painted prints, scrunchie-inspired straps and vibrant hues.
The collections are available online at MATCHESFASHION.COM, with prices ranging from Dhs 300 – Dhs 3,400.
