Early last year, Gucci announced the first steps of it’s Gucci Changemakers programme that is ‘designed to further embed cultural diversity and awareness in the company’.

Part of the initiative was a multicultural design scholarship program in partnership with fashion schools around the world, including Dubai, and the appointment of the Changemakers council which is headed up by Renée Tirado.

The latest person to join the Gucci initiative is a Saudi entrepreneur and activist Muna AbuSulayman who shared the news on LinkedIn.

“Delighted to announce that I am joining Gucci Global Equity Board,” she wrote. “Gucci has done remarkable work to ensure and empower diversity in all dimensions, visible or not. Their mission is to create a sense of belonging where each individual is valued and able to contribute and thrive.”

This isn’t the first time Sulayman has worked with the luxury Italian house. She was also part of the Chime for Change, a global campaign founded by Gucci in 2013 to convene, unite and strengthen the voices speaking out for gender equality.

“Their commitment included supporting hundreds of female organisations and projects all over the world and bringing awareness for the challenges that face women,” she added.
