Sports for all
Saudi Arabia continues in it’s steps to modernise and become a more equal society by announcing a Female Football League.
Created by Saudi Sports For All Federation, the news comes two years after the ban on women entering stadiums was lifted and the first season will be staged in various cities including Jeddah, Dammam and Riyadh. Tournament prize money has been confirmed at 500,000 Saudi riyals (Dhs489,700).

“Active people, and the bolstering of women in sports and recognition of women’s athletic achievement are all important steps forward. The SFA is excited to see this landmark women-centric competitive series become a reality,” said SFA President HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud.
All of these recent exciting changes for women in the Kingdom are part of Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman “Vision 2030” plan.
Team EW are proud supporters of women in sport and last year featured three inspiring Muslim athletes – figure skater Zahra Lari, marathon runner Manal Rostom and footballer Houriya Al Tahri – on the cover.
