It never takes much for Saint Laurent to wow the fashion crowd, but its show in Paris under the glistening lights of the Eiffel Tower along with an exceptional collection for SS23 made for something extra special.

Under the continued leadership of Anthony Vaccarello, the creative director adopted the true essence of Parisian glamour with masculine touches for the French fashion house’s showcase which paid homage to many of its archives.

Esteemed dance and choreographer Martha Graham, who is particularly well known for her tubular sheath worn in her ‘Lamentation’ dance in 1930, has been at the centre of multiple YSL collections throughout the years and SS23 embodied this and more. From the hooded chiffon dress Yves Saint Laurent made in collaboration with Claude Lalanne in 1969 to the SS85 Haute Couture collection with hooded aspects in its pieces to the founder’s closing couture show in 2002, Vaccarello encompassed these creative aspects with his own twist for SS23.

Ultra-refined, elongated silhouettes once again took centre stage, accompanied with chiffon hooded ensembles, wool coats, leather bombers and trenches all of which followed a muted colour palette.

The collection was showcased in front of a star-studded audience which included Hailey Bieber, Kate Moss, Amber Valletta, Zoë Kravitz and more.
