Anthony Vaccarello quits 2020 fashion week schedule

Celebrated Tunisian couturier, Azzedine Alaïa, famously kept away from the regular fashion schedule, creating iconic silhouettes at his own pace and releasing them when he felt they were ready.

As the fashion industry adjusts to the economic consequences of coronavirus, Anthony Vaccarello is taking a page out of Alaïa’s book by quitting the Paris fashion week schedule.

Twice a year, Saint Laurent would take over the space near the Eiffel Tower to present its latest sensual and edgy pieces. Now, the French brand is taking “control of its pace” by reshaping their schedule.

“Now more than ever, the brand will lead its own rhythm, legitimating the value of time and connecting with people globally by getting closer to them in their own space and lives,” the brand announced in a statement.

“With this strategy firmly in place, Saint Laurent will not present its collections in any of the pre-set schedules of 2020.”

“Saint Laurent will take ownership of its calendar and launch its collections following a plan conceived with an up-to-date perspective, driven by creativity,” the brand stated.
