Just when you thought it couldn’t get more exciting than Alexander Wang for H&M, BananaRepublic, the American high street chain, have announced their latest designer collaboration to be with none other than Roland Mouret.
The dashing Frenchman, who EW had the pleasure of interviewing during his last trip to the UAE, will be designing a 25-piece collection for the label due out in late August. Speaking about his latest venture the 52-year-old said: “Partnering with Banana Republic on this project was such an adventure for me. The common goal for this collection is to offer incredible fit through an assortment of hourglass silhouettes using Banana Republic’s Sloan fabric, extending my love of structure into accessible prices. These pieces are multi-functional for the modern woman to wear and accessorise in her own way, making her always ready for life’s journey.”
Famed for his iconic Galaxy dress, which has been worn and loved by the likes of Victoria Beckham and inspired countless copies, the designer commented that while his creations will be true to his figure-hugging aesthetic, they will be adapted for the Banana Republic customer using their signature stretch-and-fit ‘Sloan’ fabric. We can still expect to see a variety of pencil skirts, colour blocking and sharp tailoring, signatures of the Roland Mouret brand, although the majority of the capsule range will be centered on his famous dresses.
The company has had great success with designer pairings in the past having worked with Issa London, a long-time favourite of Kate Middleton and the late L’Wren Scott. Both collection sold out within weeks. Unlike some of the more recent high-end and high street collaborations, the price point for this limited edition line is said to be around the Dhs350 mark, so start compiling your wish lists now ladies!
Roland Mouret for Banana Republic will be available in August at The Dubai Mall and Al Wahda Mall Abu Dhabi.
