An unfiltered look

It seems like people can’t get enough of Rihanna. From the stage, to the runway, to beauty stands and book shelves, Riri is everywhere and her empire and influence continue to grow.

This past year has been an incredible one for the singer, who released her first line under her label Fenty and released her first book. But, it seems like Rihanna is intent on closing 2019 off with a bang, and she did so by selling the rights to her documentary to Amazon for $25 million.

As fans eagerly wait for Riri’s next studio album, it has been reported by The Hollywood Reporter that her documentary is in the making. The film is directed by Peter Berg, who previously worked with the beauty mogul on Battleship (2012) and action flick where she made an appearance.

Ever since the two first worked together, Berg was granted unprecedented access to the star. This untitled documentary has been in the making for years and will offer an “unfiltered look into Rihanna’s life.” It is also said to be “both moving and inspirational.” Following the time frame, the film will probably follow Riri’s journey from pop-star to entrepreneur.

There’s currently no official release date for the documentary, but the director spilled some deets to THR back in 2017.

“I’m finishing that now. We’ve got about a thousand hours of footage. That was a fun change of pace. After Lone Survivor and Deepwater and Patriots Day, where all these men run around with guns, to go travel with Rihanna around Europe, and Rihanna is surrounded by girls. We were in Nice [France]. She was going to do a concert on Bastille Day.”

Celebrity documentaries have become the way to go, with the success of Gaga: Five Foot Two starring Lady Gaga and Homecoming featuring Beyoncé’s Coachella performance. Not to mention, Taylor Swift recently revealed her Netflix documentary Miss Americana, set to debut in Sundance.
