There are restaurants that you visit for the food, those you visit for the drinks, and others that you visit for the unrivalled views of the Burj Khalifa fountains. You visit Urbano for all three.
The Italian eatery is relaxed yet unusual, and the spectacular water display can be seen from the terrace every half hour. Whether dropping in after a spot of shopping in The Dubai Mall or making a special trip to Souk Al Bahar, if you can get a table on the terrace it’s certainly worth an outing.
A simple mix of rustic and modern, Urbano makes the most of its location with the Burj Khalifa fountains providing the perfect backdrop for dining.
While the outside terrace is the three b’s – busy, beautiful and buzzing – the indoor section of the restaurant has less charisma. We recommend Urbano for those who like to dine al fresco.
Being an Italian restaurant, the menu is filled with the usual delights of la bella vita. Think carpaccio, burrata, pizza and risotto, along with a selection of dishes with a Sicilian twist.
We were particularly impressed with the Arancini – risotto balls stuffed with “mama’s Bolognese and cheese sauce”. Though they were rich, creamy and fried – not your usual appetizer selection – the flavours were balanced ensuring it wasn’t too heavy. The main course of rib eye steak was the highlight. Cooked to succulent perfection, and served with a side of chunky chips, this Australian cut is large enough to defeat even the most seasoned of meat eaters.
With such a fine selection to choose from, it would be rude not to order a dessert. Tiramisu, panna cotta and crostata di pere are all on the menu, but being cheesecake fiends, we opted for the torta di formaggio – a baked mascarpone cheesecake covered in raspberry and orange coulis – delicious.
The view and seriously moreish mocktails.
A post shopping spree with visitors.
