As London Fashion Week gets into full swing today, check into the British institution, The Landmark London, in the heart of the city and enjoy all the fabulous activities it has to offer.
THE LOWDOWN
Landmark by name, a landmark by nature. Ranked as one of London’s finest establishments, the hotel, which was built in 1899 during Queen Victoria’s golden age, is also somewhat of an institute in the British capital. One of the original Victorian era railway hotels (it started off a the Great Central Hotel), the Landmark is ideally located literally across the road from the popular Marylebone Station and also the fashionable districts of London. Virtually every London landmark (pun intended) is accessible by foot from here.
SUITE LIFE
This grand old dame is home to a total of 249 rooms and 51 suites. The décor is very much old-world style in keeping with its rich Victorian heritage. That’s not to say that it’s old fashioned. On the contrary, state-of-the-art amenities include flat screen TVs, DVD players and Nespresso machines as well as iHome systems, which allow you to control most of your comforts via a remote. Service amenities include round-the-clock room and laundry service as well as concierge access 24/7. They even throw in a complimentary newspaper and shoe shining!
EAT YOUR HEART OUT
For afternoon tea head to the hotel’s Winter Garden restaurant, set within a soaring glass atrium. Its friendly yet chic ambience and incredibly stylish menu puts other ‘lobby’ restaurants to shame. For a quintessentially, high-class British dinning experience then TwoTwentyTwo (all dark wood, leather chairs and opulent furnishings) is a treat, while the Mirror Bar is perfect for a pre (or post) fashion show cocktail.
PAMPERING & LEISURE
From the 15ft-long chlorine free, heated pool to the large Jacuzzi (for men and women), sanarium (less intense version of a sauna) and monsoon showers, it’s an impressive space and that’s before we even get into the fitness zone – fully equipped with cardio stations with Technogym machines (all with over 65 channels). Personal trainers are also on hand to provide you a tailored workout programme. Add to this a full range of luxurious treatments and therapies using ESPA products and you have one pretty impressive wellbeing centre. Parents will be delighted to know that the pool area also has dedicated kid’s hours.
