The designers closed Arab Fashion Week.
It was a fantastical end to Arab Fashion Week with both Rami Kadi and Amato Couture showing on the last day.
Volume, bright colours, clash of fabrics and plenty of attitude ruled supreme at Amato with the creative director Furne One bringing a touch of decadence to contemporary shapes and daring cuts.
While the girls can indulge in feathered mini’s and embellished separates, the boys can push the boat out with leather and lace. His avant-garde approach might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but his pieces clearly make a statement – perhaps that’s why Jennifer Lopez chose his designs for her newest music video.
Rami Kadi also worked with a bright colour palette but it had the free spirit of a music festival with rainbow wide-leg trousers, shimmering cami tops and mirror elongated shirts that he mixed with flowing gowns, some featuring risqué thigh slits.
Both designers seem determined to push their aesthetic to appeal not only to the regional market, but to a global fashionista. From what we can see, they are heading in the right direction.
