The UAE has announced reduced working hours for private sector employees during Ramadan.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation confirmed employees working in the private sector will be able to reduce their work days by two hours for the Holy Month.

Meanwhile, Ramadan working hours for public sector employees were announced at the beginning of March.

Throughout the Holy Month, those working in the public sector will be able to work from 9am to 2pm from Monday to Thursday and on Fridays from 9am to 12pm.

This announcement comes after the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) confirmed Ramadan tents would be making a return during Holy Month after being barred for the last two years due to COVID-19.

In a statement, the NCEMA confirmed that in line with the “sustainable recovery and the return of a new normal life”, Ramadan tents would be permitted this year, with precautionary measures in place.

The first day of Ramadan is expected to fall on April 2, 2022, as predicted by Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomy Society.

With Ramadan expected to last 30 days this year, it’s likely Eid Al Fitr will then begin on May 2, 2022, meaning UAE residents could be enjoying around a five-day break.

However, despite predictions, Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr dates are yet to be confirmed by UAE authorities.
