We’re excited, and not just because it’s World Chili Day (yes, that is an actual thing). Today is the start of a fabulously fun-packed weekend, which will include the sultry tones of John Legend and too much food at La Serre.

PARTYING AT THE JAZZ FESTIVAL

John Legend

At the top of our radar is this year’s Dubai Jazz Festival, which is expected to pull in 370,000 revellers. If, like us, you plan to be amongst them, you can expect to be serenaded by the likes of John Legend, James Blunt and Christina Perri. To purchase tickets visit here.

CHASING PAVEMENTS WITH THE DAWN RUNNERS

Dawn Runners

It may be gut-wrenchingly early, but if you can brave the alarm call, it’s a great way to start the day. Nike+ running club, The Dawn Runners, meet at Dubai Creek at 5.30 to kick start the weekend with a 4k followed by a complimentary yoga session. If you’re brave enough, sign up here.

DANCING OURSELVES SILLY AT AND LOUNGE

And Lounge

The latest nightspot on the scene, And Lounge, is delightfully quirky. With walls transformed by international painter Laurent Godard, it balances the fine line between shabby and chic. Friday night marks the launch of F-Word Fridays, a night for those who love all the old classics. Resident DJ Nina will be spinning throwback tunes into the early hours of Saturday morning at this new venue in The Address Hotel Downtown.

STUFFING OUR FACES AT LA SERRE

La Serre

Downtown’s ever-popular foodie hangout, La Serre Bistro and Boulangerie, has opened a flower boutique. Pret a Flora offers beautiful fresh bouquets, small trees and scented candles, allowing you to recreate the restaurant’s trademark terrace at home. But we’re most excited about the addition of pétanque to the outdoor eatery. The traditional French game is ideal for keeping children busy while parents enjoy a leisurely meal. ONE FOR THE WEEK…

Tokko

Anyone who doesn’t like Mondays simply hasn’t heard of Downtown Social at Tokko. The Japanese restaurant will be celebrating all things street food, from softshell crab to grilled skirt steak. You can sample the delicacies for just Dhs100, including two complementary house beverages. Every Monday from 7pm-9pm. For more information visit here.
