ENVIOUSLY ADMIRING LIZ TAYLOR’S BULGARI JEWELS

The V.I.P.s (1963) Directed by Anthony Asquith Shown: Elizabeth Taylor

With the Emirates Woman Woman Of The Year Awards we have one night of the year of guaranteed glamour. We get the opportunity to be princesses for the night, decked out in gowns and fine jewellery, but for some people, like the late silver screen siren Elizabeth Taylor, that life of glitz and glamour is a way of life. For the first time in the UAE, there will be an exhibit of eight pieces of her very personal Bulgari jewellery collected through momentous periods of her life, such as the Cleopatra Mirror, a gold and turquoise encrusted mirror commissioned for Taylor, rumoured to have been a gift for her 30th birthday and the ‘Taylor Burton fiancée ring’. The exhibition runs from November 7 to November 15 at the Cuadro Fine Art Gallery, DIFC.

Intended to be a community event and encourages participation from local artist and visitors, this year’s line-up will include live art and public murals by local artists, workshops, film screenings, gallery openings, live music performances and a street food market. SEEING NAZANIN POUYANDEH’S FIRST SOLO SHOW AT THE MINE

While at the Al Quoz Arts Festival be sure to pop over to The Mine to see the acclaimed French-Iranian artist Nazanin Pouyandeh’s first solo show, Jour De Silence, in the UAE. With richly coloured paint and elaborate, often hyperrealistic detail, the artist draws the viewer into a world of “metaphors, narratives and a confused tangle of reality and fiction.” The exhibition runs from November 2 to November 27. For more information visit here.
