Rabanne has confirmed Olivier Rousteing as its new Creative Director, with his debut collection for the house scheduled to show in March 2027, marking the most significant shift in the Maison’s creative leadership in over a decade.

The appointment arrives as Rabanne, under the ownership of Puig, continues to expand its footprint across fashion and beauty, with the brand positioning Rousteing’s arrival as an extension of the house’s history rather than a departure from it. Ana Trias, President of Prestige & Fashion Brands at Puig, described Rousteing’s creative vision as bold and magnetic, and said his ability to translate confidence and self-expression into fashion made him a natural fit for a Maison she framed as entering a new chapter.

Rousteing, who spent thirteen years as Creative Director at Balmain before departing the house earlier this year, brings a design sensibility built on body-conscious tailoring and a fluency in translating celebrity culture into commercial reach, qualities that align closely with Paco Rabanne’s own history of experimenting with unconventional materials and futuristic silhouettes when he founded the house in 1966.

In his own statement, Rousteing pointed to fashion’s capacity to express identity and freedom, language that echoes Rabanne’s founding philosophy while signalling how he intends to approach the role. He said he was stepping into the position with respect for the Maison’s heritage alongside an ambition to build toward new creative territory, working alongside the existing teams at the house.

The appointment positions Rabanne to compete more directly within the upper tier of global luxury houses, with Rousteing’s track record of driving visibility and commercial growth at Balmain likely to inform how the Maison approaches both its ready-to-wear and expanding beauty categories under his direction.
