Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan is set to join forces with Prince William of Great Britain for a very special cause.

The Jordanian royal is teaming up with the Duke of Cambridge in order to take part in his Earthshot Prize, where she will help decide the winners serving as a member of the global prize council.

The Earthshot Prize was launched in 2020 by Prince William and Sir David Attenborough and will be awarded annually to five winners who have garnered solutions that substantially help the environment.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine in the UK, Queen Rania said she was “humbled and honoured” by the opportunity to help in the decision-making process for the prestigious award.

“The Earthshot Prize aims to repair our planet by harnessing one of our most powerful renewable resources: human ingenuity,” she said. “There is no limit to our potential, and every new idea takes us one step closer to preventing environmental disaster and reversing the damage we’ve already done.”

The Jordanian royal also praised the Duke of Cambridge’s initiative referring to is as a “launching pad for groundbreaking green ideas”.

“It will invest in the activists and innovators seeking to restore nature, clean our air, revive our oceans, reduce waste and repair our climate,” she continued. “It will connect environmental leaders with business leaders, providing the capital and platform they need to maximize their impact and bring solutions to scale.”

Queen Rania joins the panel of global ambassadors for the Earthshot Prize Council who include: Prince William, Cate Blanchett, Christiana Figueres, Dani Alves, David Attenborough, Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, Indra Nooyi, Jack Ma, Naoko Yamazaki, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Shakira and Yao Ming.
