The Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al-Thani have made their first official trip to Spain.

The couple received a warm welcome from King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia with a state banquet at the Royal Palace in Madrid.

Emir Sheikh Tamim wore a white tie tuxedo and his wife stole the show in a stunning black gown featuring delicate silver detailing, paired with statement earrings.

Meanwhile, Queen Letizia wore a floor-length silver gown which featured intricate and delicate detailing throughout with caped sleeves.

Earlier in the day, the Spanish royals welcomed Sheikh Tamim and Sheikha Jawaher to Madrid hosting a lunch for the couple.

Sheikha Jawaher stepped out in a full Chanel ensemble paired with a Hermes Kelly bag, meanwhile, Emir Sheikh Tamim wore a blue suit.

Queen Letizia wore a white Caroline Herrera dress featuring a floral pattern and paired with blue heels.

This trip marks the first state visit to Spain for Qatari royals in over a decade. Former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and his wife Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser visited Spain back in 2011.

Sheikh Hamad stepped down as Emir in 2013, passing the ranks to his son Sheikh Tamim.
