Dr. Radmila Lukian, Founder & Chief Physician at Lucia Clinic, explains why Profhilo is the perfect treatment for super hydrated summer skin.
Can you talk us through your career?
I am a passionate, thorough, dedicated doctor – who maintains and restores human health through the practice of medicine, in my case, dermatology. A dermatologist is a doctor who specializes in conditions involving the skin, hair, and nails. A dermatologist can identify and treat more than 3,000 conditions. Aesthetic medicine was always fascinating me. Dermatology is linked with immunology, as there is a lot of science and research. I did my Master’s studies in the field of nutritionism and skin, PhD in prestigious European universities. But even up to today, I have never stopped discovering, learning, and developing myself as a doctor. Personally, for me, it is truly amazing, having always the opportunity to learn something new and exchange knowledge. I am always improving and doing all to become the best version of myself.
As a European and American board-certified physician I have been internationally recognized for my expertise. I have completed multiple training programs in aesthetic dermatology and anti-ageing medicine in the USA, Switzerland, France, Italy, Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, UK, South Africa, and Brazil, to name a few. In addition, I have also worked with the best and learned from the best experts today. I spend time teaching, learning, and training other physicians in my field of dermatology and aesthetic procedure. What inspired you to open your clinic here in Dubai?
My passion and drive to become a better version of myself. I am in constant competition with myself – and this is how the idea of Lucia Clinic started. I wanted to create a unique lifestyle brand, a destination for beauty. At Lucia Clinic, we emphasize the necessity of looking at the whole person rather than just, for example, the face. My skincare philosophy has always been to treat every patient’s skin as if it were my own. We are taking beauty beyond the ordinary and not here just to fix something in the short term. We are focusing on balance and longevity at Lucia Clinic.
How has Lucia Clinic evolved since you opened?
The name Lucia comes from the word luce, meaning “light, shine, clear, bright, full of lightness;” and we strive to apply this term to the skin of every patient we treat.
Our mission is to use new technologies for surgical, medical, and beauty purposes. Providing the best new technologies, medical expertise but as well as a passion for beauty.
And everything is related to light. Our soul and our life as well light as a technology: LED light, laser light, infrared light, etc. The use of light in medical treatment is massive. Our brand is unique because we always have knowledge and expertise with the latest equipment and techniques. We started small and step by step we have grown.
How have you seen the world of beauty evolve in this region throughout your career?
At present, it is a very exciting period for dermatology. As an international trainer and speaker on World congresses, I am more focused on global development. If we check data from the past we can see today – there are a lot more dermatologists now. And it is amazing. Currently more and more younger people – the gen Z generation – are looking for dermatologists. This profession will be super popular because the demand is high.
What are the most popular treatments at Lucia Clinic?
For the face, it’s definitely a non-surgical facelift and all injectables including Profhilo. For the body – EMSculpt NEO. We are the first in the Middle East who is having this revolutionary device. It is the first and only non-invasive body shaping procedure in the world that provides simultaneous fat elimination and muscle building. EMSCULPT NEO provides an average fat loss of 15 percent and average muscle growth of 16 percent in the target area. At Lucia Clinic we combine other treatments which can be a great addition to EMSculpt NEO. Coolsculpting is also hugely popular – it’s a cosmetic treatment to remove areas of body fat. It works by freezing the fat cells from specific parts of the body. Plus, we are preparing a surprise there.
What does the Profhilo treatment entail and why is it perfect for summer?
It is the first stabilized hyaluronic acid (HA) based product that is manufactured without the use of chemical cross-linking agents (BDDE) and is used for skin remodelling and treating skin laxity, not for just filling lines and wrinkles. According to the makers, it delivers dramatic improvement in tissue quality, even in challenging areas, and is complementary to other aesthetic treatments and dermal filler procedures. It is safe, effective, and “a true breakthrough” in anti-ageing medicine. It leaves you with a fresh-faces summer glow.
How does it differ from dermal fillers?
While both use the same component, hyaluronic acid, to produce beautiful results, Profhilo fillers and dermal fillers work very differently. Dermal filler is injected to enhance a specific area such as the lips and cheeks, and it does not typically migrate to the surrounding skin. In this way, it augments your natural facial structure to produce more angular cheekbones or plumper lips.
Profhilo works very differently because it is made of 100 percent hyaluronic acid, while dermal fillers have other components. Because it is made of a completely natural skin substance, it blends into our skin seamlessly and distributes itself evenly. The treatment helps to retain moisture levels in the skin while boosting the production of collagen and elastin, essential skin proteins, to refresh the skin from the inside out. Profhilo improves skin tone, texture, hydration, and overall radiance. It can help to increase firmness and elasticity and promote healthier and softer-looking skin. Profhilo is most commonly used for facial areas, but can also be used to rejuvenating the neck, decollete, arms, knees, and hands.
What results do you expect your clients to see?
Patients can expect increased firmness, elasticity, and overall improved quality of the skin with the effects lasting six months. This depends upon the degree of correction required, your age and lifestyle as well as the correct placement of the product by a practitioner. Two treatment sessions are usually recommended initially, with a one-month interval in between. Top-ups and maintenance treatments can then be prescribed by your practitioner according to your body’s response to treatment. If you’re purely thinking about skin quality, skin glow, and skin hydration, then profhilo is brilliant – because it’s an injectable moisturizer!
Can you give us a 101 guide to Profhilo?
This treatment is ideally suited for patients age 30 plus who are noticing a change in the appearance of their skin with the ageing process and damage from environmental factors such as sun exposure. There is very little downtime from this treatment allowing you can carry on as normal, but with the knowledge that Profhilo is working from within to give you the results you desire.
Beauty trends and treatments are constantly evolving – how do you keep the clinic evolving and developing with these trends?
As a Chief Physical Dermatologist, I am the leader who is responsible for every procedure and/or even new product. We are a synchronized team that has a similar way of thinking and the same mission. Together we are following the latest research, developments, and trends. We are going regularly to world congresses, we listen and understand our clients but as well we set the trends.

Lately, I am fascinated with anti-age serums that are targeting human ageing with new therapies and medicines. Similarly, stem cells in dermatology. In recent years, huge advances have been made in the field of cell repair and regeneration, among which usage of Stem Cells (SCs). This is something new, innovation on the market. The future.
