Bollywood actress and former Miss World, Priyanka Chopra, has been announced as the new face of fashion brand GUESS, making history in the process – she is the first Indian model to ever grace one of their campaigns.
The gorgeous actress is fronting GUESS’s Holiday 2013 campaign. Creative Director Paul Marciano guided the collaboration, which also saw famed musician and celebrity photographer, Bryan Adams, shooting the campaign, which was set in a stunning Mediterranean villa.
Priyanka follows in the footsteps of Claudia Schiffer, Kate Upton and Anna Nicole Smith, and, in true GUESS form, in the advert Chopra’s hair is voluminous and eyes lined with dark kohl – the brand’s signature Bardot-esque look. Speaking of why she was the obvious choice, Paul Marciano said: “Priyanka’s confidence, strength and sensuality reflect the qualities I always look for in a model.”
“Priyanka reminds me of the young Sophia Loren and the top actresses of the 1950s,” he added. “With the Indian movie industry exploding on a global stage, and GUESS having a brand presence in 87 countries, we could not have found a better global brand ambassador. Choosing Priyanka reinforces our celebration of multi-talented, dynamic and accomplished women.”
A Bollywood icon, Chopra is also well-known for being a recording artist and a former Miss World contestant winning the competition in 2000, at the tender ago of 17. Clearly proving that her natural beauty will be a winner world-wide, she sais: “I am honoured to be face of the GUESS brand and this iconic holiday campaign. GUESS is aspirational, inspirational and so relatable to women from across the world. When you look good, you feel great… and to me, that’s what Paul Marciano captured in these pictures and what GUESS is all about.”
