The actress was called out for her political views
Over the weekend, Priyanka Chopra headed down to BeautyCon, a biggest beauty convention in Los Angeles. Even though the event revolves around makeup and fashion but things took a political turn when an audience member accused the actress of being a “hypocrite.”
While on stage, the 37-year-old took questions from audience members, and things quickly heated up. Ayesha Malik, a Pakistani member of the audience spoke up against the Indian actress about a tweet that Priyanka had posted on February 26th which read, “Jai Hind” (translating to ‘victory to India’), with the hashtag #IndianArmedForces. She said: “It was kind of hard hearing you talk about humanity, because as your neighbour, a Pakistani, I know you’re a bit of a hypocrite.”

The Quantico actress wrote this tweet at a time at a time when India was launching air strikes into Pakistan territory following a terror attack in India-administered Kashmir. “You are a Unicef ambassador for peace and you’re encouraging nuclear war against Pakistan,” Malik continued. “There’s no winner in this. As a Pakistani, millions of people like me have supported you in your business of Bollywood.”

However, Priyanka received backlash on social media for the way she responded to the criticism. After Malik spoke out against the actress, the security confiscated the microphone from her. Then, the actress responded by saying: “I hear you. Whenever you’re done venting. Got it? Done? Okay, cool.”
“So, I have many, many friends from Pakistan, and I am from India. War is not something that I’m really fond of, but I am patriotic. I think that all of us have a sort of middle ground that we all have to walk. The way you came at me right now, girl, don’t yell. We’re all here for love. Don’t yell. Don’t embarrass yourself. But thank you for your enthusiasm and your question and your voice.”
The way Priyanka reacted has come under heavy criticism from her followers on both Instagram and Twitter, Meanwhile, Malik took to social media to explain that she felt that the actress “gaslit” her with her response.
