Historical moment.

HRH Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan made diplomatic history as she became the first female Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the US.

The royal takes on the role that her father previously held and on Tuesday took the oath of loyalty before King Salman at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.

“I swear by Almighty Allah to be faithful to my religion, to my king and my country; to never reveal any state secrets; to preserve the Kingdom’s interests and laws at home and abroad; and to perform my duty with sincerity, honesty and loyalty,” she said.

Princess is no stranger to America as she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in museum studies from George Washington University.

“As we continue to redefine and modernize Saudi Arabia, I am eager to share this progress with Saudi citizens in the United States, and the American public. Though the task is challenging, I am eager to continue to build and strengthen our strategic partnership with the United States,” she said a statement by the Saudi Embassy in Washington.

Entrepreneur and philanthropist, Princess Reema previously held the role as vice president of women’s affairs at the General Sports Authority since 2016.
