The campus she visited offers everything from fashion design to aerospace engineering.

We’re very solid on the importance of education, and from the looks of things, we’re in good company.

HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein has just opened a new university campus in Dubai. She’s used the occasion to draw attention to the top-tier education on offer right here in the UAE.

On Tuesday, Princess Haya toured Amity University’s just-opened Dubai International Academic City site.

The royal was joined by university chancellor Dr Atul Chauhan and DIAC managing director Mohammed Abdullah.

As well as checking out the high-tech facilities and posing for a few photos, Princess Haya chatted with students. That’s got to add a little bit of excitement to your average day at uni.

It was a privilege, the princess wrote on Instagram, adding that the new campus is “testament to [Amity University’s] commitment to offering world-class education.”

Chauhan said it was an honour to have Princess Haya see the campus.

“Our aim is to create an ecosystem of innovation, research, knowledge and creativity that nurtures global leaders of tomorrow,” he said.

The new campus offers undergraduate and post-grad qualifications in fields as diverse as journalism, fashion, aerospace engineering, law, forensic science and psychology.

Abdullah praised the university’s innovative approach.

“Since joining DIAC in 2011, Amity University Dubai has made a great contribution to advancing the UAE’s higher education landscape,” he said.

We’re thinking the princess’s visit will have given Amity students some extra motivation.
