He is one of those few remaining living music legends. He is so revered that when he changed his name to a symbol no one really cared because he had the goods to pull off the ego. That’s right, we’re talking about Prince and we’re very excited to announce that the Little Red Corvette singer is set to release two albums!
The signer who achieved super stardom back in the 1980s will release the two albums, one of which is with girl group 3rdEyeGirl (PlectrumElectrum) and the other a solo record (Art Official), on September 30.
Fans are set to be in for a treat with the solo album, which includes a rap song featuring Rita Ora, and has been described as “classic Prince”.
The multitalented artist not only performed the music himself but he also composed and produced the album. The psychedelic sleeve of the album has been leaked and also features the 56-year-old musician wearing space age sunglasses and a retro Michael Jackson-esque gold jacket – naturally, Prince isn’t one to avoid eccentricity.
The two albums, both of which will be released by Warner Bros – the same label Prince split from in the nineties due to a conflict over the contract – will be the first records released by the singer in five years! Long overdue if you ask us.
Warner Bros chairman Cameron Strang said in a statement: “Prince is one of just a handful of visionary artists who have truly reshaped and redefined modern music and culture.
“For the past 35 years, he has never stopped evolving, challenging himself, reinventing his sound and pushing boundaries. In true Prince fashion, he has just given us not one, but two extraordinary albums that express the incredible range and depth of his talent. All of us at WBR are immensely proud to be working with Prince to bring this brilliant new music to his legions of fans around the world, and needless to say we are thrilled to be working in partnership with him again.”
