His ginger locks and rebellious attitude have made him the heartthrob of women across the world. Today (September 15) our favourite British prince (sorry William) turns 30. To celebrate Prince Harry’s big day, we’ve put together our top ten favourite reasons to love him…
- He’s so cool that Harry isn’t his real first name, and he doesn’t even have a surname. Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales is his full title, and when he needs to provide a surname, he simply puts “Wales”. Surname? Pah! They’re only for commoners.
- Allegedly, he loves Star Trek. Geek chic is so in this year.
- When he was younger he was a huge Spice Girls fan and went to a concert during a trip to Africa in 1997. We have so much in common!
- When he turned 18 the Queen gave him his own coat of arms. Okay maybe not that much in common.
- Harry is the first British royal to see military action since the Falklands War in 1982, when his uncle, Prince Andrew, flew helicopters. Bravery is always admirable.
- He nicknames himself the “Funkle” (fun uncle) of Prince George. Swoon!
- During his gap year (pronounced gap yah) in Australia he worked as a jackaroo on a ranch. A hero and a cowboy, this is too much!
- He’s set to inherit Dhs59 million of Diana’s fortune on his birthday (today). Prince William got exactly the same.
- He’s extremely good at FIFA, and isn’t modest about it either. “You can ask the guys, I thrash them at FIFA the whole time,” he said while in Afghanistan. We love a competitive streak.
- He’s the first member of the British royal family to ever reach the South Pole. He achieved this as part of the Walking With The Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge 2013. He is literally the royal version of Bear Grylls.
If that’s enough reason to love then this video of the Prince William and Prince Harry jokingly arguing will seal the deal for you:
