Just call him Harry

Prince Harry is back in the United Kingdom for his final round of Royal duties, before leaving his senior role behind. But it seems like the 35-year-old is ready to put this life behind him, as he has already gone on a first-name basis with the public.

The Duke of Sussex kicked off his royal engagements in Edinburgh, Scotland attending the Travalyst sustainable tourism summit. While there, the Prince requested host Ayesha Hazarika to introduce him simply by his first name – dropping his royal title.

“He’s made it clear that we are all just to call him Harry, so ladies and gentlemen please give a big, warm Scottish welcome to Harry,” announced Ayesha as she brought the Prince, or rather Harry, on-stage.

Harry and Meghan Markle kicked off 2020 by announcing that they will be stepping down from their role as senior members of the Royal family. It seems that by deciding to drop his title during his first engagement back in the UK, Harry is trying to send a message. Recent developments in their situation revealed that the Sussexes will no longer be able to use the term “Royal” which came as a blow to the couple, as they have heavily invested in trademarking the “Sussex Royal” brand.

The Sussexes made the announcement on their website, writing: “While The Duke and Duchess are focused on plans to establish a new non-profit organisation, given the specific UK government rules surrounding use of the word ‘Royal’, it has been therefore agreed that their non-profit organisation will not utilise the name ‘Sussex Royal’ or any other iteration of ‘Royal.'”

This is set to be the Duke and Duchess’ final tour, and Meghan and their baby boy Archie are expected to join within the coming days. This will be Meghan’s first time facing the British royal family and the public since announcing that she and Harry will be stepping back as senior royals.
