‘Ward away jealousy’

It’s positive vibes only for Gigi Hadid and boyfriend Zayn Malik.

The couple, who are expecting their first child together, were gifted a set of evil eye bracelets from Lebanese-American jewellery designer, George Khalife.

The bracelets — which are made of 14 karat gold and diamonds and retail for $274.99 (Dhs1,010) — are a symbol to keep the evil energy at bay.

Taking to Instagram, George shared a photo of the Dutch-Palestinian model and the Pakistani-English singer showing off their new accessories.

“Good vibes only for this beautiful couple!!’ @gigihadid @zayn congrats,” the jewellery designer captioned the post.

The jewellery designer sent the bracelets to the couple to congratulate them on the news that they are expecting a baby together, he told Page Six.

“I don’t know how exactly the evil eye came up, but I think I maybe mentioned it and she was like, ‘That’s so funny, we were just talking about pulling out some evil eyes’,” he explained.

“We’re all Middle Eastern, so in our culture we believe they ward away jealousy and keep haters away. And you know everybody’s going to be talking about them — all eyes on them. So I was like, ‘Don’t worry, I got you.'”

Over the weekend Gigi, 25, confirmed she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Zayn in an interview via video call on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, after reports surfaced of the news.

Host Jimmy Fallon congratulated Gigi on her pregnancy, to which she responded saying they would have liked to reveal the news on their “own terms”, but also thanked everyone for their congratulations.

“Obviously, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support,” the supermodel said.

According to TMZ, Gigi and Zayn, 27, are set to welcome a baby girl in the coming months – Gigi is estimated to be around 20 weeks pregnant.

Zayn and Gigi originally started dating in 2016, and have been on-and-off ever since, with their latest split taking place in mid-2019. However, the pair reunited earlier this year, but have been keeping their romance away from the public glare.

Gigi did subtly confirm they were back together in February on Instagram, posting a sweet snap of her boyfriend on her ‘Gi’sposables’ account on Valentine’s Day.
