The company joins an extensive list of designers such as Burberry, Gucci and Chanel who have all gone fur-free. In a statement, Miuccia Prada said:

“The Prada Group is committed to innovation and social responsibility, and our fur-free policy is an extension of that engagement. Focusing on innovative materials will allow the company to explore new boundaries of creative design, while meeting the demand for ethical products.”

The decision came after a meeting with Fur Free Alliance, an international coalition of 40 organisations that advocate for the protection of animals. With the rise and further development of faux fur products, it looks like real fur has truly fallen out of fashion.

Some of the other brands that have gone faux are Versace, Coach, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Jimmy Choo, Diane von Furstenberg, Columbia Sportswear, Farfetch, Yoox Net-a-Porter, Furla, Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren and Bottega Veneta.
