His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai has welcomed Britain’s Prince William to Dubai on his first-ever official visit to the UAE.
The Duke of Cambridge touched down in Dubai on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, announcing his arrival in the UAE on Twitter.
Sharing a photo of the Dubai skyline from his flight, Prince William said he was “excited” to be in the emirate to attend Expo 2020 to “discuss the vital issue of working together with the UAE and international partners to achieve a more sustainable world”.
Prior to visiting Expo 2020, Prince William first toured Jebel Ali Port, which was inaugurated by his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II back in 1979 on her first visit to the UAE.
This afternoon Prince William made his way to the Expo 2020 site where he met with the Crown Prince of Dubai.
Sheikh Hamdan welcomed the British prince to Dubai, showing him around the Expo site, focussing in particular on the UK Pavilion in celebration of UK National Day.
Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi, the Minister of Culture and Youth for the United Arab Emirates, also met with Prince William accompanying him with Sheikh Hamdan.
The Duke of Cambridge is also set to witness the Al Wasl Dome at Expo 2020 Dubai light up to mark the UK’s National Day.
