Paris-based L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, supported by Van Cleef & Arpels, opens its fourth permanent international campus in Dubai Design District (d3) in November 2023.
Known for spreading jewelry culture globally, L’ÉCOLE’s new campus in Dubai joins existing ones in Paris, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.
Sophie Claudel’s Middle East Connection
L’ÉCOLE’s Middle East Director, Sophie Claudel, shares her history in the region, dating back to her work as an art consultant in Doha, Qatar. The vibrant multiculturalism and dynamic atmosphere of Dubai drew her in, fostering excitement for the upcoming Dubai campus.
Progress Towards Fall Opening
Claudel notes significant progress in building a network, with applications pouring in and positive responses from cultural and educational partners. The Dubai campus, located in d3, a global creative ecosystem is now open with 17 team members, reflecting the warm welcome from the community.
Inaugural Exhibition: “Garden of Emeralds”

L’ÉCOLE’s Dubai campus also has a free temporary exhibition, “Garden of Emeralds,” dedicated to the diverse world of emeralds and other beryl gemstones. The exhibition explores the scientific, cultural, artistic, and technical aspects of emeralds, showcasing specimens, jewelry pieces, and original drawings.
