After four weeks of gorgeous models, inspiring new collections, eclectic wears and eccentric stylistas, the international fashion weeks come to an end with Paris hosting the finale on October 2. You can only imagine the swollen feet and bags of laundry the hundreds of buyers, journalists, bloggers and photographers will be flying home with. Here are some interesting facts about Paris Fashion Week S/S14…

When the French decide to undertake something they make sure it’s done to perfection. Fashion, being the second biggest industry in France, with annual revenues of 15 billion Euros, is no exception. With 150 shows over five days, during Paris Fashion Week, the city was flooded with an estimated 800 buyers, 2,000 journalists and 400 photographers to document the events in the minutest of detail.

These details are the money-spinners for the French ready-to-wear and haute couture collections with 61.6 per cent of revenues coming from leather goods. Another reason why this international fashion week is so important to the industry is that 87 per cent of fashion-related revenues come from exports, of which 46 per cent are sales to Asia.

Only four per cent of export sales are to the Middle East. So, perhaps it’s time for another pair of Louboutins, ladies…
