In the last week, there has been an outcry on social media after a Twitter post accused Google of removing Palestine from its online maps.
The post has since gone viral and it was pointed out Palestine also does no exist on Apple Maps, as well as Google Maps, but it hasn’t been removed. In fact, Palestine has never existed on Google Maps.
Shame on you Google ! How dare you to support Israil and erase #Palestine from Googlemaps!#FreePalestine

It was also highlighted that this issue has been going on since 2016, when Google confirmed that the territory had never appeared on its maps.
Since the original post was made, some Arab stars have caught wind of the fact Palestine has been excluded from Google Maps, and have used their platforms to share their criticism of the lack of representation for the nation.
Egyptian actress Yasmine Raeis took to Twitter to share a flowered map of Palestine with her 150,000-strong following, created by Turkish artist Adige Batur.

Raeis said that while Google Maps and Apple Maps have removed Palestine, she noted that “Palestine will always exist”.
The same image was also posted by another Egyptian actress and singer Sherihan, who shared a similar sentiment to Raeis.
The artist of the image, Batur, initially posted it to Instagram entitled ‘The Real Map’, where it has now received more than 360,000 likes.
