La Perle is finally here

We were blown away by a 15-minute preview of this show in August, so the full experience should be incredible. How does a cast of world-class acrobats, a custom-built 1,300 seat theatre, and 2.7 million litres of water sound? Created by Franco Dragone, a man with several Cirque du Soleil shows under his belt, this is set to be something very special.

La Perle by Dragone, 260 Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Habtoor City. Tickets from Dhs400. Tel: (04) 437 0001. laperle.com

Check out some crafty brews

irish village

If you’re interested in trying hops from round the world, this little festival is a must-visit. Entry is Dhs160, but that gets you four vouchers redeemable at the bar. If you’re especially keen, you can get 10 vouchers for Dhs300 before 7pm. Concerned about the heat? The event is going to be held in an air-conditioned marquee, and there’ll be live music throughout.

Friday September 8

Take in some Mozart

dubai opera

Had enough of the brunch and beach lifestyle? You’ll feel about 100 times more sophisticated after an evening of classical music at The Dubai Opera. They’re putting on three of Mozart’s operas this month, and for Friday night, it’s Così Fan Tutte, which follows two young couples’ complicated romantic endeavours. Sounds pretty relevant for 2017, if you ask us. You can also catch The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni this month, and grab dinner at the newly opened Sean Connolly at Dubai Opera. Gorgeous.

Così Fan Tutte at The Dubai Opera, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown Dubai. Tickets from Dhs350. Tel (04) 440 8888. dubaiopera.com

Hit the south of France (kind of)

address boulevard

Address Boulevard stands out even in such a luxury-rich environment as Dubai, and its new Friday brunch is no less special. Called Riviera Chic, it’s themed around the Côte d’Azur, and has that French sophistication we all know and love. Seafood enthusiasts and desert fiends will be equally delighted.

Riviera Chic Brunch at Address Boulevard, Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown Dubai. Packages from Dhs325 with soft drinks through to Dhs525 including caviar, bubbly and pool access. From September 8. Tel: (04) 561 8888. theaddress.com

Saturday September 9

Finish the weekend with a dip

palace

One way to cope with that end-of-the-weekend existential dread? Spending Saturday poolside. At the Palace Downtown, Dhs300 will get you access to their glorious pool and its attendant facilities, as well as the choice of either lunch at Ewaan or afternoon tea at Al Bayt. No one’s mad about that.

Palace Downtown, The Old Town Island، Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown Dubai. Dhs300, 6am-8pm with lunch from 12.30-3.30pm and afternoon tea from 2-6pm. Tel: (04) 428 7805. theaddress.com
